About Shireen Vakil
Shireen Vakil is a distinguished policy and advocacy leader with expertise in child protection, gender and education. She served as Head of Safety Policy for Asia Pacific at Meta, where she focused on online child protection, women’s safety, and youth mental well-being. Prior to that, she led the Policy and Advocacy unit at Tata Trusts, and played a pivotal role as the Director of Advocacy, Campaigns, and Communications at Save the Children India, including working with the MWCD and UNICEF on the first National level Child Abuse study (2007). Most recently, Shireen led the Child Opportunity Fund, a bold 10-year, multi-million-dollar joint initiative between the British Asian Trust and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation focused on child protection. Ms Vakil comes with strong experience in building multi-stakeholder partnerships, addressing national and global issues with governments, donors, civil society and the media and has appeared and written on a spectrum of child rights and gender issues, in national and international media.
