Sophia Wanjiru is a Senior Trust & Safety Policy Lead at Booking.com, with 15+ years of experience spanning cybersecurity, risk management, Trust & Safety, regulatory compliance and customer protection. Her career has included roles across technology, financial services and the NGO sector, including Standard Bank and World Vision International. At Booking.com, her work has evolved from cybersecurity and risk management into Trust & Safety governance and regulatory implementation. She supports the operationalization of human rights and safety frameworks, translating commitments around exploitation, safety and human-rights risks into governance, controls, operational processes and escalation mechanisms. Sophia works closely with Legal, Human Rights, Operations, Product, Engineering, Risk and Compliance teams to strengthen prevention, detection, escalation and response across the platform. Her regulatory work includes the EU Digital Services Act and EU AI Act. She holds a Master’s degree in Computer Security from the University of Kent.
