About Shiromi Samarakoon

Shiromi Samarakoon is innovation-driven professional with over 10 years of national and international experience spanning education, child safeguarding, online safety, digital well-being, digital inclusion, youth development and social innovation. She has worked with leading international and national organisations, including UNICEF, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Save the Children and the British Council, providing technical expertise, programme leadership, research and capacity-building support. She is the Founder and Chairman of the Digital Safeguarding Centre and Co-Founder & Managing Director of 360 Campus, an education-focused institution in Sri Lanka. Her expertise includes child online protection, technology-facilitated gender-based violence, digital resilience, safeguarding, education and lifelong learning. She has led the development of national and organisational guidelines, policies, curricula, training programmes and practical resources, and has designed and delivered capacity-building programmes for educators, government officials, civil society organisations, professionals, parents and young people. Her professional experience includes regional work on Child Online Protection across the Asia-Pacific region, national-level programme management, multi-stakeholder coordination, policy and research, and collaboration with government, international organisations, educational institutions and the private sector. She is particularly passionate about strengthening safe, inclusive and innovative learning environments, promoting responsible and meaningful use of technology, and building resilient communities through education, digital literacy and evidence-based policy and practice.
