About Dr. Rupa Munakarmi
Dr. Rupa Munakarmi is an educator, researcher, and policy consultant with more than twenty five years of professional engagement in Nepal’s education sector. She holds a PhD in Development Studies (Education) from Kathmandu University as a Danida Fellowship (DFC) scholar. Dr. Munakarmi is currently serving as an Assistant Professor and Head of Department at the Department of Inclusive Education, Early Childhood Development and Professional Studies (DIEP), Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSOED). She teaches from the Master’s to PhD levels and is actively engaged in supervising graduate and doctoral students in their research, including thesis and dissertation research at KU, Tribhuvan University (TU), and Farwest University. She is also an education advisor at Kathmandu Metropolitan City. She currently holds key leadership positions, including Chairperson of Loo Niva Child Concern Group and Chairperson and Vice Chair at Visionary Voice Nepal and Nepal GoodWeave Foundation, contributing to organizational governance, strategic direction, and rights-based advocacy. In addition, she serves as a Central Member of the National Election Observation Committee, supporting democratic accountability and civic oversight. Dr. Munakarmi has led and contributed to a wide range of qualitative and mixed-methods studies related to education policy, AI in education, governance, curriculum, assessment, ECED, Education financing, Country Inequalities, and child rights. Her publications include peer-reviewed journal articles, national research reports, and policy-oriented studies.
